RESIDENTS & EVENTS
Aside from community-hosted events, the town offers a fascinating array of activities all year round.
Downtown Redlands comes alive on Thursday night for the weekly Night Market. This farmers market features lighted trees, brick sidewalks, great musical entertainment and over 150 food and merchandise booths.
The Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival holds very popular free concerts on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The much awaited annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Redlands never fails to entertain kids and adults alike.
At 76, Jo Hale shows no signs of slowing down. Her day starts very early. Jo gets up at 5:30 a.m., makes coffee, takes a shower, and gets dressed and ready for her day. On most days, she takes a one-mile walk around the neighborhood as exercise.
Jo is the president of the Casa de la Vista resident council. As the group’s leader, Jo runs 10 different committees that all make sure that Casa de la Vista is a warm, welcoming and engaging community for all its residents. She acknowledges that the keys to a long and happy life include meaningful relationships and constant human interaction. “My goal is for residents to get out of their apartments and mingle,” Jo says.
Since residents get a prepared meal daily at Casa de la Vista, Jo wants to make sure that residents have an opportunity to have a shared meal on weekends. “This will take care of those who don’t cook,” Jo says with a smile. When she is not meeting with the resident council, Jo is busy visiting with her three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She loves being around her family and friends.
Casa de la Vista offers many engaging and stimulating activities for its residents. Jo encourages that residents come out for bingo on weekdays and movie nights on Saturdays. Aside from being very satisfied with Casa de la Vista’s many activities, Jo is very happy that the building is well-maintained and the staff members friendly. “I am happy that I live in a nice, clean building. And that staff are always here to help.”
